The Zombie Menace!

pride and prejudice and zombiesWe have it! We have the book. In my hands, right now, is the cream of the crop. The top-dog. The bee’s knees. The cat’s pajamas! Whew!

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Oh, do not doubt the power of this book. It will change your life one zombie infestation in polite 19th century English society at a time. Here are some choice quotes:

“A few of the guests, who had the misfortune of being too near the windows, were seized and feasted on at once.”

“The creatures were crawling on their hands and knees, biting into ripe heads of cauliflower, which they mistaken for stray brains.”

This is more than a daft reference. This is the actual text of P&P sandwiched between a zombie horde. Do the Bennets have what it takes to survive genteal British society; for Elizabeth to fall in love with Mr. Darcy; for England to ever be the same again?!

Yeah, you need this book. Many worlds of thanks to Seth Grahame-Smith. A+

If you doubted the power of zombies…

Just in case there was any doubt that zombies would be taking over the world this year …

The Gray Lady herself has doubled the score.

Or just reported on a widely known meme. BLOGOSPHERE.

Though not everyone is happy: “I’m interested in anything relating to Jane,” she said. “But to me this is like Jane Austen jumping the shark.” Says Myretta Robens, site manager and co-founder of the Austen fan site Republic of Pemberley.

CODE RED! Someone needs a sense of humor, stat!

BRAAAAAAINNNNSS!!!

Ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok …. are you ready? You are NOT ready for the mind explosion you are about to have. Brace yourself …..

Pride and Prejudice … and Zombies!!!

“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be want of more brains.”

So. Original P&P = a GIANT snooze fest. What do you do? How do you spice this baby up? Add nudity and sex scenes? Nah, too pedestrian. Think outside the box: you add zombies. Lots of zombies. Hordes if you will.

To summate:

“As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton—and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she’s soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers—and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead.”

Ok. I need to catch my breath. This little gem is out May 13, 2009 on Quirk books. Reserve your copy now for, you know, the invasion … of zombies.

Also included: illustrations in the style of the original illustrator of P&P.
